A user on discord reported this, along with some log files:

The problem: The window freezes and after half a minute it crashes at startup [Linux]
The game: Higurashi Ch.8
The mod variant: Full
I bought the game at: Mangagamer
My operating system is: Linux (openSUSE Tumbleweed with xfce4)
I installed the patch: Using the Installer
Mod Install Date: Today
State anything "special" about your computer's setup: Thinkpad X230, installed on SSD, game worked before installing the mod.

I've added the Player.log to the archive and the log, which the terminal prints out, when trying to run Higurashi.

I also asked them when they downloaded the game

I downloaded it today.
Just 2h ago.

Their Player.log has heaps of errors like:

The class named 'Newtonsoft.Json.Converters.JsonDateTimeSerializationMode' is not derived from MonoBehaviour or ScriptableObject!

some serialization errors like:

A script behaviour (probably TestingIssue?) has a different serialization layout when loading. (Read 32 bytes but expected 328 bytes)
Did you #ifdef UNITY_EDITOR a section of your serialized properties in any of your scripts?

It makes me wonder if Mangagamer updated something on their end, or if there's some serious mismatch of files going on.

07th-mod-logs(33).zip - This contains:

  • Player.log
  • Installer logs
  • Terminal output of Higurashi when game is run
