Update API Reference to document Promise API #519

The API documentation does not mention the Promise version of the API even though its in the code.

look at the source code

What did you expect to happen?

API reference should tell us that a Promise API exists since its the most modern JS standard.

What happened instead?

Please provide any other relevant information.
