[question] ASVM Documentation?

Is the ASVM mechanism documented anywhere? I can run the scripts and kind of understand what is going on, but it's not clear how I as a platform maintainer leverage it. What is the ASVM Orion template? Is it an example? Of what? How do I 'vend' subscriptions?

Would I as a platform maintainer create ASVM templates? Or would I typically create ASVMs directly in the ASVM folder? When would I re-ignite from that folder?
