Kurzick first-timer guide.

A guide for players who just arrived at House zu Heltzer (Journey to House zu Heltzer after Sunjiang District).

There are many quests in the Echovald Forest. Some could be done simultaneously, reducing the need for backtracking.

Before starting, cash in any existing Luxon faction.

Every time you enter an explorable area, talk to the Kurzick Priest to get the blessing. Fighting under Blessing of the Kurzicks results in more faction.

  1. Arrive at HzH
  2. Get the "Melodic Gaki Flute" quest from Vasili Lutgardis
  3. Get the "Ancient Forest" quest from Scholar Andrej
  4. Go to Tanglewood Copse or Maatu Keep.
  5. Exit into Pongmei Valley and kill a Dragon Moss, a Warden and a Kirin.
  6. Return to HzH. Collect the reward from Scholar Andrej
  7. Get the "Experimental Weaponsmith" quest from him
  8. Get the "The Beak of Darkness" quest from Rutger zH
  9. Exit into Ferndale
  10. Get the "Kurzick supply lines" quest from Supplymaster Konrad. This is a repeatable quest, most useful for caster characters. Having to repeatedly drop and pick up the supplies to get access to weapons makes this less practical for melee characters.
  11. Go right to the Melodic Gaki and get its horn
  12. Continue to the "Experimental Weaponsmith" / "The Beak of Darkness". Watch out for Oni popups.
  13. Follow the "Kurzick supply lines" quest, get the reward and enter Lutgardis Conservatory
  14. Exit into Melandru's Hope and go right until Brauer Academy
  15. Exit back into Melandru's Hope and follow "The Beak of Darkness"
  16. Keep right till Jade Flats
  17. Return to Lutgardis
  18. Exit into Ferndale and follow "The Beak of Darkness". Keep right until Aspenwood Gate. Watch out: Tarlok Evermind is in your path.
  19. Exit into Ferndale. Get "Envoy of the Dredge". Go to HzH. Alternatively, go capture Signet of Spirits first.
  20. Turn in "Melodic Gaki Flute". Pick up "Discord Wallow Lyre"
  21. Turn in "Journey to HzH". Continue "Envoy of the Dredge". Pick up "Befriending the Kurzicks".
  22. Go to Brauer Academy. Exit into Drazach Thicket (north if you want the blessing).
  23. Go around Brauer on the outside to get to the SW exit.
  24. Go under (to the South of) the cathedral and follow "The Beak of Darkness" to Ruprecht Brauer.
  25. Switch to "Discord Wallow Lyre". Find it and kill it. Follow the quest marker through St Anjeka.
  26. Go to HzH and turn in "Discord Wallow Lyre". Pick up "Rhythm Drinker Drum". Go to Lutgardis, exit into Melandru's Hope and cross the bridge to the other side of the river. Kill the Rhythm Drinker and get its wing.
  27. Go to HzH and turn in "Rhythm Drinker Drum".
  28. Go to Aspenwood Gate and switch to Ranger secondary. Equip Charm Animal. Exit into Ferndale and accept the reward for "Envoy of the Dredge".
  29. Clear out the roving patrols around the Black Moa, set your heroes to Avoid Combat, and charm the Black Moa. Return to HzH and claim the reward from Rutger zu Heltzer.

The rewards for the quest chain from Vasili Lutgardis can be saved up if needed. Talking to Vasili Lutgardis removes the quest item from the inventory and brings up the reward dialog. This frees up the inventory slot and allows cashing in the reward later.

TODO: Incorporate the following:

  • Jun in HzH offers Artistic Endeavors. The Sly Dredge is closest to Jade Flats (Kurzick), but it's on the opposite (west) side from where we reach Jade Flats.

  • Eternal Grove

  • Get the "Wicked Wardens" quest from Dunmel Gorhopf. Any further adventuring in the Echovald Forest will automatically advance this quest.

  • Get the "Invoking the Saints" quest from Count zH - all you need is to visit Vasburg Armory, Lutgardis Conservatory, Brauer Academy and Durheim Archives. Vasburg Armory and Durheim Archives are normally reachable after completing Eternal Grove, or by walking "backwards" from Unwaking Waters (Kurzick) after completing Unwaking Waters from the Luxon side and walking from Harvest Temple.
