Skipping periods seamlessly

Is there a way to skip one or more periods seamlessly, as if they were never there?

Currently, I'm listening to PERIOD_SWITCH_STARTED events and seeking from there, but the problem is that the first few frames of the first period I want to skip is played, then the player pauses on the last of those frames while buffering, and only after that does playback resume from the period I jumped to.

The use case is ad breaks. I want to skip over an ad break if it has already been watched.

If you have access to the server-side I suggest you use an MPD proxy to rewrite the MPD, remove periods and adjust the timing.

On the client side the cleanest approach would probably be similar. After the client has downloaded the MPD you remove the periods that you dont want to play.

Thanks for your answer @dsilhavy , from what I'm understanding, you suggest we modify the MPD then hand over to Dash to load it. If yes, it will not suit on our scenario, what we want is modify (remove some period after it played actually) the MPD after dash load it.
