Hi,
I'm running Oblivion on Linux via Steam's compat layer, had a rough start: reg keys unset, obse launcher ain't working, etc. finally I solved all this stuff and used the xOBSE fork and got controller input working.
I've installed the vanilla ui enhancement, Northen UI Away, it's fine as controls regards, some misses like hotkeys but I can reach the keyboard, but there are no button icons
during gameplay nor I find the controller settings in Options:

Schermata da 2021-09-18 10-34-00

I do refer to this video
for what I should see, I too use a Xbox One controller.

These are NorthenUI log found on Oblivion/Data/OBSE/Plugins:
NorthernUI.log
NorthernUI.log0.log
NorthernUI.log1.log

I can report, having this same issue. Using a Steam Deck in gaming mode, Proton 7.0-4 - Also using xOBSE, had to rename to OblivionLauncher to get OBSE working. A lot of finagling required to get NorthernUI to work on Steam Deck.

hi husky3g, it's been almost a year, no progress so far.
I'd not recommend to play Oblivion with a controller, or steam deck's own input, sadly the experience has really been bad.
but I can assure you the game will run smoothly, but save often as the game will crash every few hours, and with my setup which is slightly worse than the deck, game runs smoothly a max settings at 1080p, actually I have turned on vsync to avoid overheating my device

It's a shame Linux/Deck gets so little support for this stuff but that's the problem with it over Windows. I was excited to see this mod. I really hope this gets fixed and they add a Dualshock icon mod as well so I can use my DS4 and not get confused with X prompts lol.
