Name: Mark Fannon

Treasurer

Manifesto

Hello! I'm Mark "Big Dollar" Fannon, and I'm running for treasurer! Currently I hold the position of Welfare Secretary, and nothing has gone wrong thus far (aside from a Conservative advertisement in bean fights). If I get the job of treasurer, I will continue to ensure nothing goes wrong and promise Conservative-free internal monetary policy.

One Mr. Nathan Burgess incorrectly claimed last year that "Hacksoc is the only society with a free membership" - despite his valiant aims of "Mo money, no problems", this was an incorrect claim. Communi-Tea has fit that description for years, but I hold no grievances. He has done well, and I will continue to grow the Hacksoc reserves so that we can spend money on important things (hackathon trips, HackNotts tshirts, buttplug.io workshops, etc).

I also once met Ed Balls, so I can be trusted to manage our money properly

As an enjoyer of my creature comforts in life (quality meats, tasty butter, and a good pie now and then), I promise to spend Hacksoc money wisely - only the best, for the best price. And potential sponsors, with my gallant self at the helm, will see the same in us too! To build upon The Notorious N.B, "Even Mo Money, No Problems'.......

Money

BONUS SECTION : Actual Policy

  • HackNotts is an expensive event to run, possibly one of the most expensive student-ran events in the SU. I want to be assertive and diligent when it comes to reaching out to sponsors - Frasers Group, CapitalOne, etc are good pals of HackNotts by now - but more money is always helpful to plug the hole
  • This year many of our members have attended hackathons across the country! Unfortunately, due to the dire state of British public transportation, this can be an expensive hobby and thus prohibits many from attending as much as they'd like. Therefore I'd like to work more on member reimbursements.
  • The School of Computer Science, like the rest of the University of Nottingham, is hardly rolling in cash currently. That being said, I think we can do more to ensure we continue to be supported by them for events such as HackNotts and also ask about the point above
  • Society hoodies! - Generally this is a committee thing but if others want in, then I'd love to sort out HackSoc merch for 24/25 :)

EXTRA BONUS SECTION : Fun Mark Facts

  • Shoe Size 10
  • I was on question time and recieved a vigorous nod
  • I am a cat :3
