Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
Panels I literally never use are taking up space that would be much more useful to me in the Query and Results panes. The Panels I never use are the Database filter, Table filter, Filter, and bottom Logging panel. These all reduce the available space in the Query and Results panes. I would be more productive and happier with more horizontal space to write queries and more horizontal (and vertical) space to see the results.
Describe the solution you'd like
Add a new "View" menu that allows us to toggle the above panels (and ideally all panels) on and off.
Describe alternatives you've considered
I can of course make those panels as small as possible horizontally (and vertically for the logging panel) but this is inelegant and still has wasted space. It is really frustrating when that little vertical sliver of the Database filter, even if only a centimeter wide, means I can't see all of the right-most results pane column and I have to then use my mouse to scroll and see it.
Additional context
I've seen Issue #1311 which is the same request from years ago. I thought I'd re-raise as I hope I can make a stronger argument for the feature. @ansgarbecker, when referring to a couple panels, said:
I disagree here - both of them are intentionally not closable. Once they would be closed, many users would panic, not knowing how to show them again.
Respectfully, I would imagine that 99% of the users of this amazing software are developers, database admins, and other high functioning power users. If you were to add a standard "View" menu like virtually every other IDE type software has, it would be simple to re-show panels with no panic whatsoever. If you are truly concerned with users panicking, then don't put a simple "close" button like an "X" to close them. This would require use of the View menu to hide/show panels. Then anyone who hides will of course know how to re-show.
These panels I never use and that I can't close damage the primary function of this software, i.e. being able to efficiently write queries and then see as much data as possible. For such a powerful and otherwise very modern and amazingly complete software, this omission is noteworthy and disappointing. I hope you will consider adding this feature.
