Play store only allows AAP now, so you won’t get far with APK.

I have no idea what a AAP file is. If you know more about it and how to create a native activity with an AAP file, i'm happy to implement that

The Android App Bundle is now a requirement for the Play Store. https://android-developers.googleblog.com/2021/06/the-future-of-android-app-bundles-is.html
I think APKs can be converted to AAB, but I am not sure about that.
