I've actually scoured the archive on https://archive.rebeccablacktech.com/g/ But I never really found anything interesting or complex. Was there a recent thread? |
It's pretty rare to find real RL stuff, there's always programming threads and occasionally someone will do some interesting scripting but it's fairly rare because it's mostly circumstantial. Personally most I've seen is my friend a while ago wanted his PC to boot when he came in the door so he used wake on lan to do that with some Android app. He works for banks on contract so at one point he considered automating a lot of his day to day emails, and text messages to people but the potential for disaster is pretty high I think. |
I think Ruby with its gems is very powerful automating tool in minutes automate skype message to CI your releases to lots of tasks |
There are actually dozens of 'automating-tasks-scripts' like this one, but less subtle, in this thread : https://www.quora.com/As-a-programmer-what-tasks-have-you-automated-to-make-your-everyday-life-easier |
I really love this kind of thing.
