How do I download my source code from Google App Engine

Previously (with the old tool), you could download your source code from Google App Engine by running the command
appcfg.py download_app -A <app_id> -V <version> <download_dir>

Since appcfg.py has been deprecated, does the gcloud SDK support the ability to download source code from GAE (production)?

No, gcloud CLI/SDK doesn't support the capability to download your source code from GAE (Google's production servers).
