A very general survey of CMSes includes a whole rockin' section on respimg support:

This time the cat image is nearly a whopping 100x smaller

That article includes a pretty extreme (though not completely unrealistic) example. People who are uploading reasonable sized images to start with will not see this kind of 100:1 improvement.
