Is this the same as: "✖ Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'replace')"?

No, this error is because you're not signed into Github using SSH keys on the command line.

For example when this works:

git clone git@github.com:UofGAnalytics/BOLDpython.git

The compiler should be able to check for new versions correctly.
