Does anyone have issues processing +10,000 files at once?

I process about 1,000 and under realitively steady, but it seems the higher number of images I process the longer each one takes. First images were well over 4MB ea and processed in less than 2 seconds while the 1MB and under images are taking over 3 seconds each. In the case of going above 1,000 images it can take anywhere from 10 to 100 seconds to process an image. The application usually freezes in this process.
