Motivation Behind Feature

The Node team has released Node 16 on April 21:

You can read more about Node's release schedule here.

We should begin adding Node 16 support to our testing workflow to try and catch potential issues and resolve them if possible.

• Update AppVeyor, Travis CI, and GitHub Actions to include Node.js 16.x in the testing workflow.

Pretty sure all of our repos have node16 support and this ticket was simply not maintained. So closing.
