Have there been any thoughts or attempts at supporting Rust projects / repositories?

The Rust ecosystem is growing fast and quite a few crate maintainers in the community are on Patreon, though almost none on opencollective yet unfortunately.

More and more companies are using Rust also, including the one I'm at (Embark), and I would love to have an easy way to sponsor and support any crates that we use, and for other companies and individuals to the same as well.

Technically Rust & specifically Cargo stores dependencies in Cargo.toml which is quite easy to parse and all crates have metadata and are published on crates.io.

@repi We're open about it but we prefer to let the community take care of that. To date, we already got Nuget, Gem and Go support from the community!

This is a 2 steps process:

Thanks, glad to hear it. Will see if one can rally the Rust community around it, and/or sponsor work to do it. Would be great to have!
