Please install Xcode, to relieve users of the burden of automating this. Xcode is an important dependency for a multitude development projects on macOS, including using modern Homebrew.

For example, use mas to install Xcode.

Or, once you have the .XIP downloaded, you can use xip --expand <.XIP> followed by xcode-select --install:

you could use the user-script functionality to do this.
