Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
There is a Github Action workflow in place for incrementing the version number with every push to master but it doesn't work well and needs more tweaking.

Examine the version incrementing workflow.

Describe alternatives you've considered
Manually adjust the version number where needed.
