There are several software packages that the backup scripts rely on. While most are part of a typical install, there are a few more special dependencies.
- s3cmd - command line interface for S3
- python-magic - identifies file type, used by s3cmd
- git - version control software to pull latest s3cmd
- mutt - email client that handles attachments simply
- some mail transfer agent - in order for the log files to be mailed
