Adding an extra custom line of text above a generated barcode using BWIPP options

I am trying to generate a barcode to have its number below and then a different custom text string just above (in the same location that the textyalign=above would appear). Is there a way to do this using BWIPP's options?

No. You can only work with the text you you already have or substitute it using the alttext option. You can't create entirely new text and then position it - you'll have to recompose the image further down your workflow to achieve this.
