As far as I can see, it's not possible to specify a different path to your nixos configuration in the config.dhall for cachix. I've moved mine to a different location that's more convenient for my workflow. Any thoughts on if this is desirable? I don't mind putting in a PR if someone can give me some pointers on where to start,

I'm not quite following. How does this apply to cachix?

I've moved my nixos config into my home directory because I find it more convenient. I was hoping I could specify to tell cachix to save its nixos config files into the directory in my home area instead of /etc/nixos

I worked around the limitation my symlinking /etc/nixos to the location I wanted so this probably isn't necessary anymore

Ah, so you want to permanently set --nixos-folder when using cachix use.

  -m,--mode nixos | root-nixconf | user-nixconf
Mode in which to configure binary caches for Nix.
                           Supported values: nixos | root-nixconf | user-nixconf
-d,--nixos-folder ARG Base directory for NixOS configuration generation
