Data disappearing with Scatter plot

Expected behavior

When I zoom into a scatter plot, the data should not disappear.

Current behavior

When I zoom into a scatter plot, then at some point the data disappears.

Optional extra steps/info to reproduce

Don't zoom in too fast, one mouse-wheel step at a time.
If you go to the center of the plot and zoom in, then after 5-6 steps the issue is apparent.

As I don't know if this issue is related to the zoom plugin, I have also opened an issue there chartjs/chartjs-plugin-zoom#782
