Right now publish is responsible for setting the links on items to point to their locations in the catalog. However, this is problematic for anyone needing to set additional links based on that location, such as the latest-version link from the version extension.
I don't know the full set of extensions out there that deal with links. If we just need to handle this singular case for the foreseeable future, then it would be trivial to add a flag to set latest-version. If we need something more flexible, however, then I am not sure what the best solution is for this problem.
@matthewhanson@philvarner Just wondering if either of you might have a better idea what else we might need to accommodate here link-wise, or have any other thoughts about this question.
