App::get_version?

I'm trying to print name and version of my application on every run. I've found App::get_name(), but nothing to get the version. How do I get the version?

Note: I use app_from_crate!() for instantiating App, but I do not want to use a separate call to crate_version!() to avoid duplicating the version code and creating inconsistencies by only one being changed later.

In clap 2.33 Arg.verison field is #[hidden] pub, you can use it directly. Hacky, but I don't think it will ever change.

If you want to see it in 3.0, feel free to submit a PR adding Arg::get_version getter.

Use .p.meta.version as this fn does. If this doesn't work, I don't know what does.

Honestly, if I were you, I would use a separate crate_version! call

I got it to work. I'll change it to store the result of crate_version!() and use that where needed; that's easier to read. Thank you!

FTGJ: crate_version! and app_from_crate! cannot result in an inconsistency because they get the info from the same Cargo.toml (CARGO_* env vars to be precise)

I understand there's no difference between the two macros. However, I want to avoid having two calls for the same information, because that means that one could be changed without the other, even to something else than the macro. And then the results will be inconsistent.

(But it's not a problem. I can just have one call, store the result, and use that where needed.)
