Should we change .yml examples to .yaml?

A very tiny and low impact discussion here 😄 .

I was first reading the docs, and I encounter this.

let yaml = load_yaml!("cli.yml");

After this phrase:

First, create the cli.yml file to hold your CLI options, but it could be called anything we like:

Then I searched about the naming convention and found this answer on StackOverflow.

Since the maintainers have asked that you use ".yaml", that's as close to an "official" ruling as you can get, ...

Should the examples in the documentation then call the file .yaml?

I couldn't care less which one of the extensions we use here. I have only two requirements:

• It's consistent through all the codebase, check.
• The picked extension is widespread around the globe (i.e it's not some obscure .yymmll nobody knows about), check.

A fun fact from the source you linked:

Purely as a result, probably, of these factors (and not as an official endorsement), I would note that the YAML.org website's latest news item (from November, 2011) is all about a project written in JavaScript, JS-YAML, which, itself, internally prefers to use the extension ".yml".

Suffice to say, I'm not going to start another bikeshedding thread here. I don't have anything against .yaml, so, if you specifically think this worth the time you will spend on the PR that will change this for both examples and filenames, you can go ahead and I will merge it. I won't spend a single second on that and I'd very much like to stop the discussion here - bikeshedding is infectious.
