Show short variant behind subcommand in help?

Is it possible for subcommands to show a short variant behind its name in the help output?

Imagine having this clap application with subcommands and aliases configured:

Usage: prs [OPTIONS] [COMMAND]

Commands:
  show          Display a secret

  duplicate     Duplicate a secret
  alias         Alias/symlink a secret
  move          Move a secret
  ...

Can short subcommand variants be shown like this, in a similar fashion to options with short() but without the hyphen?

Commands:
  show, s       Display a secret
  copy, c       Copy secret to clipboard
  generate, g   Generate a secure secret
  add, a        Add a secret
  edit, e       Edit a secret
  duplicate, d  Duplicate a secret
  alias         Alias/symlink a secret

Thanks! I wasn't aware there was an issue for this, as I couldn't find it.

It seems this is open for 4 years already. Is there anything I can do to advance its progress?

Its mostly a matter of a decision being made.

The one investigation step someone hasn't done is to look at common Rust applications that use visible_alias and to see if there is sufficient space for us to be expanding the subcommand column as discussed in #1398 (comment)

Isn't that an implementation details for users of the crate though? Crate users have the final decision on whether to show/hide aliases.

I make extensive use of aliases in prs, but would hide all but one once this is implemented:

Besides isn't [aliases: ...] at the end of the line always longer than showing it in a, b format? Or is this not comparable because one shifts the indentation, and one wraps?

Correct, the first column is fixed width while the second column can wrap, to a degree.

or we could have {aliases} in the help template, then I can choose whether or not to display them, existing code wont be affected
