How do I selectively enable/disable arguments based on if a feature is enabled?

I feel something is missing in your question because you show the answer with #[cfg()]

huh. the Parser macro did used to complain about missing something last night and it refused to recognize the argument when i compiled it with it activated last night. apparently it just started working today as if no issues existed at all
