I believe you should see stderr text in logs regardless of success or failure: cloudprober/probes/external/external.go Line 558 in 8056812 If you're not seeing that, can you please share your config? |

Hello @BrennaEpp, I see the stderr content in logs just fine. I tried with the following script:

I ran it like this:
As you can see, stderr content appears as warnings in the logs. |

I have an external probe running in a docker container on GCE that sends Cloud Monitoring metrics to stdout. The program that runs may have errors that I'd like to log, but the probe should still succeed. Right now, I send those errors to stderr and at the end of the program exit 1 so that those errors will be surfaced to Cloud Monitoring. Is there a way to view the output to stderr without having to exit 1?
