Lots of people are listed as working for "Hewlett". That isn't a thing.

Do you perhaps mean "Hewlett Packard" or "Hewlett Packard Enterprise"?

Be aware that HP split into HP Inc. and Hewlett Packard Enterprise in 2016.

There are also entries for:

  • HP Inc.
  • HPE Software

I can check on Friday, ideally I just need a mapping between bad name -> good name, but if bad name is ambiguous then I just don't know what the correct one should be.

That sounds like something that someone from HPE's open source team should look into!

LinkedIn suggested @riaschalnat might be a good guess.

OK so I'm marking this as an external and waiting for feedback, even providing mappings as a comment here will do updates, for example:
name1 -> name2, name3 -> name4 etc.

Hey folks - sorry I'm new to this project and trying to figure out how to help (or who to drag in). I might be able to help by reconciling folks currently employed at 'Hewlett' against the current employee directory, but that doesn't help a bunch for former employees.

How was this list derived in the first place?

It is all manual research, so data is as good as we could get this ourselves, providing a list of users or name mapping would help - or just a PR updating developer_affiliationsN.txt accordingly.
