Tests not exiting correctly in Gitlab CI/CD

I am running a suite of Cypress tests in a Gitlab CI/CD pipeline. Twice this week, a test has completed but did not exit correctly, and no additional tests were run. The test runner seemed to get "stuck" until it reached the Gitlab job timeout of 2 hours. Is there any known issues that would cause this or a way I can resolve it? This is not happening consistently.
