I have a d3 chart with contours. Its performance was really bad and I was looking for ways to improve it. But then I realized this lag only happens on my macbook pro (2017) screen. When I move the browser tab to extended monitor, it becomes really smooth. My monitor resolution is 2k and mac screen is set to 900p. (Even if I disconnect the monitor, it does not effect the performance on macbook). On the other hand, macbook screen can smoothly display 3d content on browser (google earth). This problem is probably not specifically related to d3 but I was wondering if there could be some setting that can affect the performance of svgs on macbook screen. I couldn't find anything related on web. Edit: Now, I also found out this lag is apparent on chrome and firefox, it's smoother on safari and opera. |

I guess this happened because hardware acceleration was enabled on chrome. It became smoother after disabling it. I was suspecting that it could be the culprit but I don't understand why this config decreases 2d performance while increasing 3d performance. |
