Remaining to do:

Make the pdiff image have a transparent background
Show a spinner or something while the pdiff is being computed
Compute diffs lazily (speed up startup)

I have not noticed the speed of pdiff generation being an issue in years and I'm not sure what the "transparent background" task is referring to.
