deployment question: use the 027 branch or wait for v0.27.1 ? #9920
-
Hello, We are running a Decidim v0.27.0 application in production, everything is running fine, thanks for all the good work! We are discussing internally what is the best way to benefit from the latest bug fixes for that version and would like your opinion on the subject. Sorry in advance if this is not the correct channel to ask that question or if it's already documented somewhere. Feel free to redirect me to the proper channel and close that issue if it's the case. So right now, our Gemfile looks like this:
So it means that we are using Decidim at the 0.27 release tag, if I'm not mistaken. We saw that there is a 0.27 branch with a few "stable" bug fixes on top of that release. What is the best way to benefit from those bug fixes? Thanks in advance, Simon |

Welcome to Decidim!
I've converted it to a GitHub Discussion as its a Q&A, but you also have the support developers matrix channel at http://chat.decidim.org. But no problem on creating an issue of course!!
That actually means "use the v0.27.0 from rubygems.org": https://rubygems.org/gems/decidim
You can point to that release branch from the Gemfile: https://docs.decidim.org/en/install/update.html (so we aren't a bottleneck when you want to have the bugfixes)
We've talked about that yesterday, that we should start preparing v0.27.1. I suppose next week we'll do the backports/reviews/merges, so probably the week after that (the first of November or so). Mind that we usually are very relaxed on this kind of timings, so, regarding the question from the title:
I recommend using the branch, so we're not a bottleneck for you. |

What we do is that when we tag the release we also push it to rubygems, so its practically th…
