Description

Two VAMC editors created "Important and Useful information" program detail pages which are difficult to find. They recently requested increased visibility (via menu placement).

Results of content audit turned up several more pages of this type:

  • 6 "Important and Useful information" pages, all from the same VISN
  • 9 "New patient" pages
  • 1 "important and useful" page - limited to Emergent/Urgent care
  • 1 "important" phone number page

Questions:

  • What is the logical IA for this type of content and how can we increase visibility?
    • Path and breadcrumbs should match. If this content will permanently live at this level, URL should also match.
    • Once determined, decision can inform general guidance for other program pages Related: #17707
  • Is this type of page universally needed? Could this be used by other VISNs/systems/facilities?
    • If so, how might we template a page to support editors in making the most critical information is readily available and to ensure it is used for only the most relevant and meaningful information?
  • Or does the content already have a designated location?
    • Does the existing location have enough visibility?

Summarized content analysis

The most commonly found content on this type of page covers topics which serve the majority of new users/patients but which already lives elsewhere

  • Care coordinator pages (Patient advocate, MHV, Suicide prevention)
  • Top task pages (Appointments, Pharmacy)
  • Manage your health online box
  • Prepare for your visit content (Chaplain, BTSSS/Transportation)
  • Important contact phone numbers
  • Link to Summarized content analysis on Mural

Opportunities

  • Should the "Manage your health online" box (or the tasks within) be available on facility level pages?
  • Do facility pages need a [limited] FAQ section for designated topics (i.e. new patients, relocating patients - perhaps pointing to a dedicated page for the information)
  • Do we need a link to find other VA locations on facility pages? (within Location and contact info section?)
  • May need way to surface info about accessing Community care/ER 72 hour notification
