I wrote mjpitz/bin-vendor a little while back that has made managing tool dependencies significantly easier. This projects managed to get by working with some of the latest versions of dev tools, but some of that broke in gh-239. Moving the dev-tools over to using bin-vendor should be a pretty easy task.
