Getting error: Schema must contain uniquely named types but contains multiple types named "__Schema"

How does the parser detect __Schema? I'm getting the following error message:

error Parsing error: [graphql-eslint] Error while loading schema: Schema must contain uniquely named types but contains multiple types named "__Schema"

When I inspect my schema file I only see one instance of type __Schema
