The two biggest pngs + the two biggest gifs totalled 1.7MB out of 3MB total for downloading the dwyl/learn-elm-architecture page. They definitely have advantages, but maybe consider

a) Linking to images
b) Linking to two different pages in a doc folder with or without images as the viewer prefers (I read github on mobile data a lot)

Great point! GIFs aren't very mobile friendly. 📵
My plan (once this repo has had an initial review) is to record a screencast and upload to YouTube. Mobile users will see a screenshot of the video
and instruct readers to "click to watch" (i.e. no data-plan-killing auto-play).

Re-opening as I think this is a good point.
We need to ensure we compress images and will leave open until the screencast is available.
