Drupal uses egulias/email-validator v3 and we're currently evaluating when an update to v4 will be required.

For reference our current minor branch is 10.0.0, and will be supported until the end of 2023. The earliest version we could update to v4 is 10.1.x, released in June 2023 (and supported for twelve months), but it's likely if email-validator v3 was going to stay on critical support longer, we would probably relax the constraint to allow sites to upgrade, but default to the current branch until its EOL coincides with a later minor branch.

We can probably deal with most timelines (although support until the end of 2023 would be great since that would cover our current minor branch until its own EOL), but it would be good to know what you have in mind.

The Drupal.org issue for reference is https://www.drupal.org/project/drupal/issues/3351561

Hi @catch56 , thanks for reaching out.
I'll keep the current support level for v3 (critical bug fixes) until the end of 2023.
