search by author not title

don't know if this is a irc limitation but some authors have common names and if i try to search the name i get tons of titles that have the name and it is hard to find the author. is there a way to search by author only? or at least order the results by the various columns. like put it in alphabetical order by author or title by clicking the header at the top of the column
