Here is an example where I clicked on a heading in the toolbar on the right:

I'm using myst 1.2.1, and I have tried with both Firefox (version 126.0) and Chromium (version 123.0.6312.86).
Proposed solution
I think the back button should take the user back to where they were when they clicked on a link, regardless of whether it refers to the same page or to another one.
