Link to dynamic route -- no back button

My app directory is structured like this:

(drawer)/_layout is a Drawer with screens pointing to overview and to-do

The other _layout files are simply returning a Stack component for now.

app/index.tsx uses a Redirect to (drawer)/overview

In to-do, there are components representing to-do items, which are wrapped in a Link like so:

Touching this Link properly redirects to the right route, but there's no back button in the stack bar, and using the back function on Android takes me back to (drawer)/overview rather than (drawer)/to-do, where I came from.

I tried following the initialRouteName configuration as specified in the FAQ by adding the unstable_settings export in todo-detail/_layout.

As much as I messed around with the initialRouteName, the most I could get it to do is show a back button but going back just took me to another instance of [id].tsx that had no back button.

Been trying really hard to grasp what's going on and why, but I can't seem to understand it. Any help would be very greatly appreciated!

After all of this hair pulling, the solution was to add another _layout containing a stack to my root app folder -- I'm assuming this lets the router to wrap everything else in a single stack, allowing everything else to push to it as expected!
