Have a stable or latest as alias for the latest version on the website #1218

I just noticed when referencing API pages from another project, one has to include the version in the link to our pages here, which is not ideal since they go out of date. We should have a stable or latest as an alias to the latest version which people can and should use to link to our pages.

This is done on all other projects that I know, somehow we've missed it so far.

Would this be as easy as adjusting the URL over here, or would it require something else as well?

It wold be a symlink, and then adding the link in that list as well, like the stable folder you have here: https://github.com/scikit-learn/scikit-learn.github.io
