Performance degredating past 1.6.0+1 #803

I upgraded chewie to the latest version and saw massive decrease in performance.

1.6.0+1 was okay.

My use case is that I have a ListView.builder and it can house a Chewie player here and there (usually only one on screen at a time).

My solution was to downgrade chewie and pin the version to 1.6.0+1.

Any ideas on what the cause may be? The flutter dev tools showed a raster step of ~50+ ms.

Edit: further usage on 1.6.0+1 is revealing that the performance degradation is present when the video player controls are visible.
