Hello @foray1010 ,
one thing none of the bookmark extensions has is a function to update/overwrite an existing bookmark folder. I do it manually right now, but a function for that would be great!

Scenario is: You have folder for a project and you add new, remove old and also reorder bookmarks. So every time you have to create a new bookmarks folder with the same name, move it to the right position and delete the old one.

It would be so much better to make a right click on the existing folder and click "Update" - that's it!
Please 👍

Hi @MartinLichtblau! Can you explain it further? I don't understand your request
Do you mean there is a scenario:

  1. we need to add new, remove old and also reorder bookmarks in old folder
  2. so, we copy the old folder, and do add new, remove old and also reorder bookmarks in new folder
  3. move new folder to the position of old folder
  4. delete old folder

If yes, why don't we just do it in the old folder?

FYI, PmB is being rewritten in branch deku, PR if u want

Thanks :)
here is a more precise descritption

User story: "As a user I want to overwrite the content of an existing bookmark folder with new bookmarks. I need such a functionality when I do 'projects' where I find new important links (bookmarks) everyday, so I can just update/overwrite/reflect the changes in my already existing bookmarks folder with one click"

Functional description When right-clickling on a folder in PmB a context menu open which has a function "Overwrite folder". This function bookmarks all tabs in the current window and overwrites all existing bookmarks in the right-clicked folder

Perhaps it's understandable...
P.S.: Since I never worked with chrome extensions I have no idea how to implement it, so it would be cool when you could intergrate such a functionality. 👍

I don't think you should use bookmark manager for this purpose
What u mention about is more like session, the storage is just temporarily
so you better have a session manger to save your project session

I suggest u to try the following extensions first:

  1. Session Buddy
  2. FreshStart

Mhh, it's kind of a philosophical thing.
IMO Bookmarks already have the same functionality like sessionmanagers and furthermore they are one well intergrated part of the browser (synced, Keyboard shortcuts, exportable, searchable, ...). And I think bookmarks are becoming more an more, more than just containers for links.
I sort, categorize, add and clean my bookmarks so they become more useful for me and stay usefull over a long time.
But thanks for the hint, I'll keep a look into those sessionmanagers. I tried some before, but they were immature, let's see if they improved them. 👍

Since I don't think many ppl will use Clear all and Bookmark all tabs for this purpose, my motto is to keep everything simple, don't mess up the users with the options they probably won't use. So, I will leave this issue open, see if other ppl have the same need.

I will implement Bookmark all tabs, hope it can reduce your steps.

Absolutely understandable, only implement the things that are needed!
The bookmark all functionality is already implement in Chrome, easy to
access via Ctrl + shift + D
