Thousand separator problem for spanish locale

Hi, I'm having a problem with the thousands sepator when the number is between 1000 and 9999. I'm using 2 locales, english and spanish.

I'm using the FormattedMessage component this way:

<FormattedMessage id='myId' defaultMessage='msg' values={{ myValue: 5000, }} />
My problem is that for some reason on the 'es' locale numbers between 1000 and 9999 don't get formatted but they do in 'en'.

Seems like the FomattedMessage component formats numbers passed as values by default, so if I want to modify the formatting options I have to use the formatNumber function?

This is the correct behavior. CLDR data for es specifies that minimumGroupingDigits is 2 instead of 1 like en. So it will only group for numbers above 9999.

I see. Is there any way to configure it manually through the options? I checked the intl.NumberFormat API and seems like it's not possible but it doesn't hurt to ask.

I don't think there is. If this is an issue you should put in a JIRA ticket to Unicode CLDR actually
