What is the intended workflow ?

In dev mode, should formatjs extraction and compilation run in watch mode ? If so, I don't see any APIs relating to it.

Formatjs extraction and compilation doesn't seem to play well in workspaces (especially with watch mode). I think for my case, the better option would be webpack plugin .. I see a couple of advantages with this

• easy watch mode
• extraction and compilation can be combined into a simple flow
• extraction from libraries, node_modules and workspace will be much easier.

Thoughts ?? Thank you in advance.

In dev mode everything is basically in default mode (defaultMessage & defaultLocale). Extraction & compilation are basically considered integration phase (pieces of your app integrating with each other, and also integrate with the translation vendor & asset packaging/distribution pipeline).

Do you expect the extracted/compiled lang to be part of git or should it be hidden with .gitignore ?

Typically compiled is ignored since it can be hermetically recompiled from string messages. In terms of extracted messages, it depends on your translation vendor integration. If they're a git hook that feeds on a file change then extracted must be committed. If they have an upload API where u hit every time CI runs then it doesn't have to be committed. For reference, Yahoo does the former and Dropbox does the latter.

Curious .. for which vendor you did first and for the latter also ? looks like the latter approach will work for Phraseapp .. since they provide a cli to push/pull.
