I'm currently studying the VisualizationAPI to see how we can implement graph visualization with OpenGL. The Octree class however confuses me: CompatibilityEngine calls its iteration methods during rendering, meaning it's used even for 2D rendering. How come? Why does rendering a 2D graph use the Octree class at all, instead of directly calling a graph data structure containing NodeModel and EdgeModel objects?
