Sometimes `group_levels` doesn't get set when selecting a group column #648

See #619 for original issue report.

When this happens, the group column's values remain purple, and grouping by treatment in the box plot shows nothing.

It can be fixed by unsetting the group column, reloading the page, and then setting the group column once more.
