Description

A way to control independently managed image storage account type and disk storage account type for the temporary machine.

Options for a VM disk storage account type: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/api/azure.resourcemanager.compute.models.storageaccounttypes?view=azure-dotnet-preview

Options for an image storage account might be "Standard_LRS" and "Premium_LRS"

Use Case(s)

  • use SSD disk for the temporary packer machine, even for creating image that has Standard_LRS storage account.
  • create images quicker (using SSD disk on a temporary VM) even when premium SSD disks are prohibited by the policy.

Potential configuration

"vm_disk_storage_account_type": "StandardSSD_LRS"
