What is the problem you are trying to solve with this feature?

This is just another 'idea' I'm throwing out there.

It would be nice to have a couple of templates (or perhaps the ability to create them) for common "types" of things you might be inventorising like books.

For books you might have fields prepopulated like "Author name", "Publisher", "ISBN no" etc.

This would be a particularly nice touch as it would enable people using separate systems for recording libraries to store everything in HomeBox

What is the solution you are proposing?

Template support

What alternatives have you considered?

I would second this. I'm trying Homebox to organize my books, DVDs, Blu-rays, CDs, LPs and magazines from my collection. I couldn't find a selfhosted solution that is simple as Homebox with item templates.

I absolutely agree that item templates would be great.

A few built-in templates would be useful, but custom templates with configurable fields would be ideal.
